My former colleague Mike Dano over at Fierce Wireless points to a couple of contrasting analyst reports regarding RIM’s standing in the smartphone market. GC Research analyst Tero Kuittinen writes that the company’s lineup looks “a bit shopworn,” while Canaccord Adams’ Peter Misek raised his rating on RIM shares, noting that the upcoming Tour could be “one of the best BlackBerries yet.” I think RIM is well positioned to continue its momentum, but it will need to churn out sexier gadgets to stay ahead in the era of the superphone.
