		<description>I&#039;m still skeptical that there really isn&#039;t a business model for PowerMeter. As you&#039;ve written about before, Katie, there&#039;s a lot of opportunity to do targeted sales of energy goods based on (free, aka ad-supported) energy management tools. For a player like Google, that equals money in their pocket. 

That said, chances seem good to me that there are small opportunities for independent, pay-to-use players in this market still — although, the current number of participants does seem to dwarf that opportunity. Not everyone is willing to tolerate ad-supported free services; some of us would rather pay a little to limit the marketing messages we&#039;re inundated with.</description>
