The Apple/Google Voice flap occurred after I had written the entry on the iPhone, so yeah, it probably didn't get the attention in the report that it merits, texasyellowdog. And you're right: blocking truly useful apps will increasingly infuriate both users and developers who will soon have plenty of other app stores and platforms to patronize.

I haven't been able to get Google Voice yet, but when I do, I WILL have a phone with with the GV application. The report barely admits that Apple is blocking truly useful applications along with the naughty ones. I'm also a Rhapsody subscriber waiting on the iPhone before I cancel. Rhapsody really doesn't work in any OS X browser. The iPhone remains the best platform, and it is a shame that corporate greed, not lack of engineering imagination fails it. Perhaps an Android phone and an iPod Touch will be the only full solution.
