Here’s one data point. Look at the increase in YouTube’s maximum file upload size. It went from 10 MB when I first started uploading to YouTube, to 100 MB, than 1 GB, and most recently 2 GB. Figure HD uploads have to have to have something to do with that. And that means an increase in upstream bandwidth needed.

Verizon FIOS internet has been terrific for me at 15/5. I called last week about a TV service change, and the CSR found a package that actually lowered my cost while changing the internet to 25/15. The next time I used my NNTP (newsreader) application, it froze my Mac Mini Core2Duo while the download was in progress. Be careful what you wish for. I’m going to have to throttle this fire hose just to use the computer. If the cost of 50/Mb is a Mac Pro, I can’t afford it.
