Android’s presence on the mobile web is surging while iOS is on the wane, according to data released today from the analytics firm Quantcast. Android’s share of mobile web consumption has gained steadily to reach 25 percent, the company said, while Apple’s mobile operating system saw its share fall11 percent to 56 percent. That’s not a big surprise, of course, given the ever-increasing number of Android handsets on the market. And it’s a trend that’s sure to continue in the coming months as Android’s momentum picks up thanks to gadgets like the Droid 2 and Droid X, among others.
