In a well reported note on O’Reilly Radar, Alex Howard looks at how municipalities are taking advantage of car sharing to cut their fleets by 50 percent or more. But the big fish out there is the federal government. Zipcar has a pilot ongoing with the General Services Administration (GSA), which has a whopping 210,000 vehicles in its fleet. If the data is positive, and expansion moves beyond just the GSA, the government could be a major customer for Zipcar.
