Has the inevitable media backlash against the iPhone begun? The Wall Street Journal’s widely read gadget columnist Walt Mossberg gives a thumbs-up to the new cool kid in school, the Droid, while the LA Times tech blogger Mark Milian wonders whether it’s Droid envy that has iPhone users sputtering. CNet UK declares that, while iPhone apps are cool and all, “as an actual call-making phone, it’s rubbish.” The big loser, though, could be Research In Motion, whose BlackBerry devices are already losing market share to the iPhone and now also faces threats from the Palm Pre, as well as the Droid.
