AWS launches high I/O instances

Amazon Web Services has added a new “instance type” or virtual machine to its EC2 cloud service for apps that are highly I/O dependent. It’s aimed at web and mobile apps that need to store and retrieve lots of data fast in order to respond to clicks and gestures in real time. AWS said these machines are an ”exceptionally good host for NoSQL databases such as Cassandra and MongoDB”.
