Can T-Mo market its way back into the race?

AdAge has an interesting piece this morning documenting T-Mobile USA’s new marketing campaign designed to give the company something of a makeover. The campaign is something of a brand refresh, but it once again is touting the carrier’s HSPA+ as “4G.” That’s not a bad move, really — not many people outside the industry have any idea what 4G really is — but it likely won’t be effective when AT&T and Verizon Wireless can simply counter with claims of superior network speeds. More important, though, is the fact that T-Mo is still the largest operator without the iPhone. That will change eventually as T-Mo moves to LTE, of course, but until then it will continue to be an also-ran.
