Is Android’s market share peaking?

TechCrunch has an eye-catching post this morning on new data from Strategy Analytics that indicates Android’s amazing momentum may be stalling. Android sales have declined 5 percent in the U.S. from last year, according to the market research firm, and the platform may be “approaching a peak” in terms of market share. That may be true — Android certainly has its flaws, including its well-documented fragmentation problems — but no operating system other than Apple’s iOS has gained any real traction. I still think Windows Phone will emerge as a real threat, but for now it’s still a two-horse race between Google and Apple — and Google is still winning.
