Yesterday All Things D confirmed rumors that Microsoft is hosting a big event in Los Angeles this Monday, and this morning The Wrap cites a single unnamed source in a piece claiming that the software vendor will trot out a Windows-based tablet to take on the iPad. I rarely report on rumors here — and I have no inside information — but I’ve long believed that a potentially huge market exists for a tablet that integrates seamlessly for the Microsoft products so many of us use every day on our PCs. The iPad is still a complementary device for most of us, especially when it comes to creating documents and other content. If Microsoft can offer a Windows-based tablet in the same price range as the iPad, it could have a big winner.
