Mobilize 09, GigaOM’s premiere mobile industry event, is coming up in just over a week and, in celebration of the occasion, we’re releasing three new reports on different aspects of mobile.
The first report, “Surveying the Mobile App Store Landscape,” is by none other than Colin Gibbs, mobile curator here at GigaOM Pro. It’s a comprehensive breakdown of all the major players in the fast-moving app store space, from pioneers Apple and Google to efforts by handset providers such as Palm, Nokia and RIM, and forthcoming app stores from Microsoft and Verizon Wireless. (We’ll be hosting a lunch-time workshop on the topic at Mobilize, as well!)
The second report published today is Chetan Sharma’s in-depth analysis of the mobile advertising market. In this report, the president of Chetan Sharma Consulting shows why the industry need to expands its focus beyond ad-impressions as the key metric for success, pointing to other metrics such as reach, targeting, virality and transactions as more important.
On Tuesday, Pike Research’s Clint Wheelock takes a look at the potential for carbon emissions reduction in the mobile telecommunications space. Wheelock examines how implementation of newer green technologies within the operator’s network, from base stations to data centers, could achieve a reduction of up to 101 tons of carbon dioxide — a whopping 42 improvement over business-as-usual projections — by 2013.
If you haven’t yet done so, I’d suggest you check out the Mobilize 09 site to see the fantastic group of speakers we have. Not only will there be an opportunity to see such industry luminaries such as Motorola’s Sanjay Jha (who will be debuting the Motorola lineup of Android devices), but you’ll also be able to meet up with GigaOM Pro analysts Sharma, Gibbs and Phil Hendrix, all of whom are leading panels.
Until then, enjoy our new trifecta of mobile research reports, and we’ll see you in San Francisco next Thursday.
