Ravello Introduces a Cloud Application Hypervisor for Developers

Ravello Systems today announced the public beta of its service that allows developers to overcome their internal data center capacity constraints. This is accomplished by leveraging the resources of the public cloud to develop and test their applications faster.
“Ravello instantly enables developers to replicate their existing applications, without any changes, and deploy them to any public or private cloud.” Ravello eliminates contention of resources ensuring that developers always have access to replicas of production instances. This allows developers to work in parallel and be much more efficient.
Ravello’s service is powered by a “cloud application hypervisor” that consists of three core technology components:
- A high-performance nested hypervisor, providing the ability to normalize application environments across any cloud.
- Software defined networking and storage.
- An application framework that enables mutli-VM application.
Those who seek the true killer applications for cloud computing will find that DevOps is a solid fit. In comparison, the traditional approaches to application, development, and testing are expensive and very limiting for developers.
Technology such as this will play a major role in getting development shops turned on to cloud computing. The value is there immediately.
