A new organization called the RVU alliance was announced today by Cisco, Broadcom, DirecTV and Samsung. Interesting in that the group is pushing a new remote user interface technology that leverages a server/client architecture to enable consistent UIs around the home. I am a bit skeptical after having watched Microsoft fail with its efforts to push Windows Media Center remote UI, as well as having seen quite a few networked enertainment efforts fail over the past decade. Still, its an interesting idea and I welcome a focus on developing consistant networked UIs for the digital home.
