Microsoft had a could first couple days at Computex, with OEM’s showing off some innovative new form-factors for Windows 8-powered devices, including all manner of laptop/tablet hybrids running on both Intel and ARM processors. But now reviews of Windows 8 itself are starting to roll in and the picture is decidedly more mixed. Some reviewers have even used the dreaded “V” word, as in Vista. Other terms include “unmitigated disaster” and “a Frankenstein’s monster of cobbled together parts that were clumsy and impractical.” In its Computex keynote, though, Microsoft said it’s all good. So there you have it.
