Warner turns on the UV light

Warner Bros.’ “Horrible Bosses” did a respectable $117 million at the U.S. box office but the studio is hoping it shines even more brightly in the cloud. The Jennifer Aniston comedy, which is being released today on Blu-ray, is the first title to be made available simultaneously in the UltraViolet format. A second UV Warner Bros. title, “The Green Hornet” will be released Friday. Hollywood is hoping that cloud-based UV rights lockers can entice consumers back into buying movies and away from rentals. But they’re fighting a very strong tide.
