TechCrunch gasps that OMGPOP’s Pictiontary knock-off pulled ahead of Zynga’s Scrabble steal in terms of daily users, according to AppData. Zynga usually has the top game at any one time. More important, Zynga’s collection of apps dwarfs the competition. Zynga apps are 5 times the size of OMGPOP’s apps as I write this. Zynga’s a studio with lots of hits, and recently – off Facebook – it became a distributor for other studios as well. Zynga’s scrambling a little to build a sustainable hit machine. A secondary offering appears to be more about liquidity and keeping owners happy than about raising capital. Losing execs doesn’t help.
