Nicole Black is an attorney in Rochester, New York. She is the founder of lawtechTalk, where she tracks and analyzes the effects of emerging technologies on the legal field.

She has a unique understanding of the legal industry and its technology needs. In the past she has consulted with mobile and cloud startups targeting the legal field and has provided insight regarding the expected demand for their product and advice as to the best marketing methods. She also advises lawyers on how to incorporate emerging technologies into the practice of law.

She is the co-author of “Social Media: The Next Frontier, ” a book published by the American Bar Association and is also the co-author of “Criminal Law in New York’” a Thomson-West treatise.

Her next book “Cloud Computing for Lawyers, ” will be published by the American Bar Association in the fall of 2011.

She has been blogging since 2005 and writes a nationally syndicated weekly technology column for The Daily Record, a Dolan Media publication. In addition, she has authored numerous articles for other publications, has spoken at conferences both nationally and internationally, and is frequently quoted in the press regarding the intersection of law and Internet-based and mobile technologies.
